The organization’s purpose is to enlighten and entertain the community and Nobility of the Shrine by providing a continuing opportunity for musicians to perform a variety of band and ensemble music that is challenging and interesting to both musicians and audiences. Musical performances are held several times a year including concert performances, parades, Spring and Fall dances, and as the Potentate may direct. Proceeds from performances are donated in support of the philanthropic mission of Shriners International and the 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children. Participation in the band is open to anyone with affiliation to a Shriner. Any individual who wishes to participate only needs to have a high school proficiency in their instrument. We are currently accepting new musicians. Current members include professional musicians, music educators, college music majors, and outstanding current/post High School music students. Performing groups include: Concert Band / Wind Ensemble Big Band Jazz Band (Dance band containing 18 or more musicians – Mostly “swing” style) Dixieland Band Small instrumental ensembles including Jazz Combo (5-7 musicians) and German Band (6-7 musicians) Additional small instrumental ensembles are continuously being formed based on available musicians.
